Blog: Welcome to my new Portfolio!! (More Posts)

It’s a delight for me to unveil my latest project… which is a new place for my portfolio.

The above subdomain is the place for me to curate and link to all the projects I’ve made and will create in the future, whether it be for a client or another category of project.

What’s in my portfolio?

For the purposes of this website, I have grouped projects into Client Projects, Development Projects, and what I call “Legacy” Projects, i.e. web design projects from the past I’ve recreated as design examples for my portfolio.

Working out the design of my portfolio has been something I’ve been trying to do for a long time and there have been many iterations in the past. I’ve tried to do things dynamically with JavaScript and JSON to produce a project list. I’ve worked with other technologies like Express.js and Laravel. But… when it comes to user-generated dynamic content, my heart belongs to WordPress and it is the tool I always come back to.

And what I really like about this design is how it closely matches the design for my new blog which I unveiled towards the end of last year.

So what can you expect from my new portfolio?

Over the years I’ve created projects using technologies like… HTMLCSS, Python, DOM Scripting with JavaScript, PHP, WordPress, and more.  These are the kinds of projects you can expect to see and hopefully, you’ll be able to see why I have included them in my portfolio.

The website is part of a network of linked subdomains which include the following

https://www.jonniegrieve.co.uk – This is my main public website. This is the place to start. This is where you can contact me directly, check out featured projects and learn about my web design packages and my rates.

https://portfolio.jonniegrieve.co.uk – As it were, the new kid on the blog. Go to this website a curated collection of my work which I’ll be adding to as often as I can. At the time of writing several of my client projects are up and running and some of my other work to get the new website started.  There’s more to come.

https://projects.jonniegrieve.co.uk – This is the subdomain where most of my projects live. I had originally intended it to be the location for my portfolio but a new subdomain seemed like a better use for it so the WordPress installation could specifically go there. If it’s appropriate some of my other projects will live at an external location such as a GitHub repository. In either case, they will be linked via portfolio.jonniegrieve.co.uk.

As far as a homepage goes for this subdomain may be a landing page would be more fitting rather than another list of links.

https://blog.jonniegrieve.co.uk – I created this a short while ago and it is the main blog site for my business. If there’s something for me to write in a blog (such as this blog), it’ll go here.

https://wordpress.jonniegrieve.co.uk – As I write this post there’s not much to see at the moment, but this is site exists as a place for me to experiment with the latest advances and tools in WordPress so there will be a separate WordPress installation for it.  Sometimes, as is the case right now, I might decide to take it down until further notice. until there’s something I think is worth seeing.

https://android.jonniegrieve.co.uk – Welcome to android.jonniegrieve.co.uk – a smaller collection of Android mobile projects stored in versional control. It is written in pure HTML5 and CSS

https://dyspraxia.jonniegrieve.co.uk – This is a website I built in WordPress as an awareness tool and blogging site for Dyspraxia.  and hope people take a lot from it.  Go to the website or the Dyspraxia section of my main website for more information about this.

And that’s it!

I have more subdomains but the above are intrinsically linked together as part of the work I do at Jonnie Grieve Digital Media. I will be adding more projects to my portfolio as time goes on as well as other enhancements to the site in the time to come.

Next up will be to build the portfolio with more projects and to start thinking about some content to view for my WordPress site.

Enjoy and thanks for reading..
