My portfolio site has taken a big step forward towards going live.
I have now finished building the 3 custom post types and populated them with 3 portfolios each. Although I haven’t as yet tested every eventuality I’m as confident as can be that each CPT will function correctly and independently.
Working correctly and independently looks like
- 3 clickable checkboxes that filter the display of 3 categories of list items that contain links to the portfolio pieces
- A single.php template that isn’t linked anywhere on the website but can be used by me to link to an informational page relating to a portfolio piece.
- A link that goes to the URL where each project lives in its own new browser tab
Now I did make one addition from the static markup files that I created when I added the technologies used data… which introduced clickable checkbox data. Obviously, I had to test this at different browser widths and there is an issue at around the 980px breakpoint where the list overlaps the bounds of the image container. It might be a challenge to change this, but hopefully, it’s just a case of adjusting the breakpoint in the media query.
Later on, I feel I should also add a condition statement that changes the Link Text depending on if the project lives at a URL or is a cloneable GitHub Repository. But I feel like that can be saved for a later date.
So there are still things to do but the work is progressing well.
