Sometimes it is okay to just take a step back and try and fix a problem with the fresh pair of eyes the next day. Don’t think of it as a defeat. Remember it’s okay to take a step back and pace yourself.
I reiterate, A fresh pair of eyes on a new day always helps.
A Fresh pair of eyes
To illustrate my point yesterday I got myself fixated on a lightbox issue with my Photography website that seemed to prevent the images from showing it the way I wanted. No matter what I seemed to try nothing seemed to work on this one category of photos. The image kept showing up in its own new tab. So yesterday I kept the “woodland” category offline so I had time to check it out.
This morning I solved it in less than a few minutes. And it was so simple. The issue Lightbox attribute wasn’t filled in properly. The very attribute that makes the Lightbox library do what it does. Once that was fixed in my .json file, the category I was trying to fix starting to work.
WordPress Starter Theme
So, after that, back I went to my WordPress starter Theme repository, which is almost there, ready for completion. I’ve added it as a featured project of mine now and given it its own GitHub Repository. So there is something available to utilise right away.
I didn’t by any means get everything done I wanted. I wanted for example to make sure there was some article post pagination in ready before I made it public. But that, for whatever reason was not working. This is something I want to look into so I can understand it a bit better but I think it’s something to do with the loop syntax I’m using. I’m not using Custom Post Types but the loop I’m using isn’t standard either. I’m using WP_Query in my loop, even though I’m using “post” post types which might be throwing it a bit and not displaying pagination links, so it’ll be fun to look into that further and see if I can add that to the Theme later on.
So that’s my latest update. I feel like there’s enough there for people to clone the theme to their own systems if that’s what they would like to do and work on their projects from there. I will be making new additions and fixes as I go in the weeks and months ahead.
