The goal today is to finish the initial development of my WordPress sub so it works as a WordPress theme and is something that I can share. As a reminder, the point of this installation of WordPress is to give me a place to experiment with the latest features of WordPress – a catch-all theme as it were.

After spending a bit of updating the version number of the installation I managed to get as far as enqueuing the styles and scripts so that the theme took on the appearance of my design, made the WordPress loop to populate my archive and main templates.  I set up the main navigation as a WordPress menu, set up 2 widget areas and added the theme files to the server.

So I didn’t quite get done everything I wanted to, due to all sorts of problems, including my failure to differentiate the sass files from my static design folder with the theme folder, so every time I made a change with the watch command, the styles tended to revert to a previous iteration of my design… which was incredibly

annoying. But thankfully I found my way around that.

I’m nearly there, I just need to work my way around some styling and formatting issues in the design.  Tomorrow. Hopefully.
